About the role

Role Summary
The VP of MEP Deployments & Project Delivery leads end-to-end delivery of mission-critical infrastructure programs—from greenfield/brownfield construction and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) execution through GPU cluster deployment, commissioning, and operational handover. This leader owns schedule, cost, safety, quality, and readiness across multiple sites, coordinating internal teams and external partners to deliver repeatable, high-throughput deployments. The role also drives site logistics and optimized traffic patterns (people, vehicles, materials, and equipment flow) to maximize productivity, reduce risk, and improve cycle time.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end project delivery (construction through handover)
- Own portfolio delivery for multiple sites/projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and outcomes.
- Lead preconstruction planning (constructability, sequencing, phasing, long-lead procurement, critical path management).
- Establish and enforce delivery standards for design readiness, change control, risk management, and reporting.
- Drive predictable execution across GC/CM, trades, OEMs, and commissioning agents through tight governance and field presence.
- Ensure smooth turnover to operations with complete documentation, training, spares, and warranty plans.
MEP execution leadership (mission-critical environments)
- Oversee electrical (MV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, busway), mechanical (chillers/CRAC/CRAH, cooling distribution), and plumbing/fire systems delivery.
- Ensure MEP systems meet performance targets: capacity, redundancy, efficiency, maintainability, and reliability.
- Lead integrated testing and commissioning strategy (L0–L5 or equivalent), including witness testing and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with engineering to resolve field issues, RFI/submittals, and late-stage design gaps without jeopardizing safety or uptime.
GPU deployment & infrastructure readiness
- Own the build-to-deploy interface: rack delivery, staging, secure storage, install sequencing, and readiness gates.
- Coordinate power/cooling/network prerequisites and site acceptance for GPU hardware deployment at scale.
- Align deployment waves with capacity releases, commissioning milestones, and customer/business demand.
- Define repeatable “pod” or “module” deployment playbooks for rapid replication across sites.
Site coordination, logistics, and optimized traffic patterns
- Design and enforce site logistics plans that optimize traffic flow for deliveries, cranes, forklifts, personnel access, and material laydown.
- Implement badging/access controls, delivery scheduling, routing, and staging to reduce congestion and improve safety.
- Drive labor productivity via pull planning, zone management, kitting, and just-in-time delivery.
- Establish constraints management and daily/weekly cadence (lookahead planning, Takt, Last Planner, or similar).
Leadership, governance, and stakeholder management
- Build and lead a high-performing team of project directors/managers, construction managers, and site deployment leaders.
- Create operating rhythm: KPI dashboards, executive reviews, site walks, risk registers, and decision logs.
- Manage vendor/OEM performance, contract compliance, and commercial outcomes (claims avoidance/management).
- Communicate clearly with executive leadership, operations, security, IT/network, supply chain, and EHS.
Quality, and compliance
- Own quality management systems: inspections, ITPs, punch management, NCR/CAPA, and as-built accuracy.
- Ensure security and chain-of-custody practices for high-value GPU equipment and sensitive site areas.
Success Metrics
- On-time, on-budget delivery against baseline schedule and approved scope.
- Commissioning pass rate and reduced rework/punch closure cycle time.
- GPU deployment throughput (racks/week) and time-to-ready from mechanical completion to compute availability.
- Safety performance (TRIR, near-miss reporting, audit outcomes).
- Site logistics efficiency (delivery dwell time, congestion events, crane utilization, material handling cycle time).
- Vendor performance (schedule adherence, quality defects, change order discipline).
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years in mission-critical construction and/or infrastructure delivery, including leadership of MEP-heavy projects.
- Proven experience delivering data centers, HPC facilities, or similarly complex industrial/critical environments.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-site portfolios and scaling standardized deployment playbooks.
- Deep understanding of commissioning processes, readiness gates, and integrated testing.
- Strong command of construction controls: scheduling (Primavera P6/MS Project), cost forecasting, risk management, and change control.
- Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills; ability to drive alignment across engineering, operations, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifically with GPU/HPC cluster deployments (rack integration, high-density power/cooling constraints, phased cutovers).
- Familiarity with Lean construction methods (Last Planner, pull planning, Takt planning).
- Background in logistics/industrial engineering concepts applied to site flow and productivity.
Leadership Attributes
- Bias for action with disciplined execution and transparent reporting.
- Systems thinker who can standardize without losing site-level practicality.
- Strong field leadership: comfortable on site, resolving issues quickly and safely.
- High bar for quality and operational readiness; relentless about closing gaps.
