About the role
About the Team
The Tax team is evolving from a traditional compliance and provision function into a data-driven, AI-first operating model. We are building systems where recurring tax work is structured, automated, and continuously improved through better data, workflows, and intelligent tooling.
This team sits at the intersection of tax technical expertise, data systems, and AI-enabled operations, with a focus on reducing manual work while improving accuracy, speed, and insight.
About the Role
We are looking for a Tax Manager to take on a role spanning tax compliance and tax provision, with responsibilities that evolve across U.S. federal and state depending on team needs.
This is not a traditional tax role. Instead of primarily preparing returns or managing external advisors, you will:
Work within database-driven workflows where preparation is increasingly automated.
Focus on review, validation, and improvement of tax outputs.
Build and refine data models, automation, and AI-assisted processes.
Develop a deep understanding of tax data to support forecasting, planning, and scenario modeling of the respective tax process areas you own.
This role is designed to develop next-generation tax professionals who can operate across past (compliance), present (provision), and future (modeling and planning).
In this role, you will:
Support monthly and quarterly tax provision processes using structured, data-driven workflows rather than traditional spreadsheet preparation.
Perform first-level review and validation of automated provision outputs and data pipelines.
Assist with tax compliance and return preparation using centralized data and system-driven processes.
Build and maintain database-driven tax calculations and models.
Develop scenario models to evaluate regulatory changes, transactions, and restructuring impacts.
Use AI tools (primarily OpenAI technologies) to accelerate workflows, documentation, and analysis.
Own and improve operational tracking systems (moving away from spreadsheet trackers toward structured, automated tracking).
Identify inefficiencies and redesign workflows to improve speed, accuracy, and scalability.
Partner with tax, finance, and data teams to improve data quality and system integration.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
6+years of experience in corporate income tax (provision and/or compliance).
Strong understanding of U.S. tax provision (ASC 740) and/or compliance processes.
Experience working with large datasets, structured data, or financial systems.
Demonstrated ability to improve processes, not just execute them.
Comfort working in environments where automation and AI are core to workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Experience with SQL, databases, or data transformation tools.
Comfort working outside of Excel-heavy workflows toward system-based solutions.
Familiarity with automation tools, scripting, or AI-assisted workflows.
